Computational natural selection: indications of interest wanted
|
|
Alastair writes "I have submitted an outline idea "Computational
natural selection" to EvoNet's FP6 Project Whiteboard.
The purpose of the whiteboard is to group together research ideas which
EvoNet will feed to the European Commission as several general Expressions
of Interest. These will help define the scope and focus of calls
for proposals to be published this autumn as part of the Sixth Framework
Programme, which includes substantial funding for research projects integrated
by Networks of Excellence. Whilst most of this funding will go to Europeans, there is also scope for funding for non-EU participants in integrated projects.
Hopefully some ALife.org readers will be sufficiently inspired to indicate their interest in
this research idea, using a link on the above web page, before 7 June.
Best wishes,
Alastair."

TESTERS WANTED FOR AN ARTIFICAL LIFE RPG
|
|
bionicbros writes "This is built on an real-time evolving RPG engine that was inspired the Hypercycles of Manfred Eigen (Nobel Prize in Chemistry 1967). The first episode of SOB begins on a planet within a distant grouping of stars categorized as a globular cluster. This cluster, GJS8, is ruled by the Xenobe, a dominate single celled life. You must enter this planet and the Xenobe from dominating this worlds evolution. The Xenobe is now compiling their codes on the planet of Plasmobia. Here, life has just started. It is single celled and it looks vaguely like a colony of viruses and bacteria. You are can become its hershers and dominates and you must bring these new species of life to the State of Being. The story is fantasy but the technologies behind it are not. If interested contact our team at: http://www.bionicbros.de
This is a free event.

tupac writes "technoetic arts
an international journal of speculative research
edited by Roy Ascott, CAiiA-STAR.net
This peer-reviewed journal presents the cutting edge of ideas, projects and practices arising from the confluence of art, science, technology and consciousness research. It has a special interest in matters of mind and the extension of the senses through technologies of cognition and perception. It documents accounts of transdisciplinary research, collaboration and innovation in the design, theory and production of new systems and structures for life in the 21st century, while inviting a re-evaluation of older worldviews, esoteric knowledge and arcane cultural practices. Artificial life, the promise of nanotechnology, the ecology of mixed reality environments, the reach of telematic media, and the effect generally of a post-biological culture on human values and identity, are issues central to the journal?s focus.
